How to Cook Frozen Bone-In Chicken Thighs

Forgot to take the chicken out of the freezer? It happens!

Bone-in chicken thighs can be cooked from frozen in the oven, although they’ll need more cooking time than thawed chicken. Arrange them in a baking dish, season them, and cook until they reach a safe internal temperature.

For more even cooking, thaw your chicken thighs in the refrigerator before preparing them. If you’re short on time, you can also thaw them in leakproof packaging submerged in cold water, changing the water every 30 minutes, but under cold running water works best. Cook immediately after thawing.

Always use a meat thermometer to check the thickest part of the thigh without touching the bone. Chicken must reach an internal temperature of at least 74°C (165°F).
